At next month’s annual convention of the National Automobile Dealers Association in San Francisco, General Motors will publicly announce its plans to encourage dealers in major metro areas in creating automotive-megastores that will incorporate every GM brand. The American carmaker’s goal is to cut down the number of dealerships in certain areas where real-estate is expensive as many dealers are selling out their property since it’s more valuable than the franchise itself. According to Automotive News, GM will encourage dealers that are interested to allocate their service and parts departments to other areas where land is cheaper, thus creating enough space for the new showrooms.
