SEMA: Rhys Millen's Hyundai Genesis Coupe Racer

RMS Hyundai Genesis Coupe SEMA 2008The wraps are off from Rhys Millen Racing's 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe as the concept was officially revealed today at the SEMA show. The RMR-designed "Art of Speed" is essentially a stripped out, track-ready version of the Genesis Coupe with custom components on the exterior, a radically altered racing-spec interior and some serious performance enhancements from under the hood. The RMR Genesis Coupe is powered by the entry-level model's 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine enhanced by a Turbonetics turbocharger, wastegate and blow-off valve. RMR did not release any output figures but in standard form, the 2.0L turbo engine delivers an estimated 210HP on regular unleaded and 220HP on premium.

RMS Hyundai Genesis Coupe SEMA 2008Other mechanical upgrades include the heavy-duty HKS sequential transmission and a KW coilover suspension. The RMR Genesis Coupe sports a silver and blue paint scheme and a lightweight RMR dry carbon fiber wide body kit, functional hood scoop and an APR GTC-500 carbon-fiber wing.

RMR also added SSR Type-F competition lightweight wheels and Bridgestone Potenza racing slicks that are partnered with the factory Brembo brake system. Inside, the Genesis Coupe's interior has been transformed into a racing cockpit with a Sparco steering wheel and seat, eight-point roll cage and a RMR carbon fiber dash.

KIA Borrego Limited SEMA Concept

KIA Borrego SUV Concept SEMA 2008For this year's SEMA Show KIA has readied a subtly customized version of its new Borrego midsize SUV. The concept combines a black exterior paintjob with limo-style tint windows and enough chrome detailing to make a '57 Chevy look underrated. The SUV has also been lowered for a sleeker profile and outfitted with gaudy 22-inch Avarus Chrome Wheels and Spec-X 285/45R22 tires. Open up the doors and you're confronted with a custom-made leather interior boasting what appears to be alligator-skin (hopefully faux...) inserts on the seats. We'll probably forget this concept in less time than it takes an F1 car to go from naught to 60.

SEMA: Dodge Challenger R/T Blacktop Concept

Mopar Underground's design team deserves plenty of kudos for creating one of the nicest modded Challengers we've seen. The concept began life as a factory 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T equipped with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and 6-speed manual transmission. The crew at Mopar Underground gave the Challenger R/T a black-on-black racing stripe paint scheme and added custom-made spoilers along with altering the front clip to create added "brow" over the grill. To finish off the look, the Challenger R/T rides on massive 22-inch Dodge Viper wheels from Factory Reproductions wrapped in Dunlop tires measuring 265/35 R22 front and 305/30 R22 rear.

Inside, the interior of the blacked-out Challenger R/T is enhanced with Katzkin leather seating finished in bright red as well as with an upgraded Mopar Kicker audio system for premium sound.

To better the Challenger's driving characteristics the team added a Mopar coil-over suspension and strut tower brace while underhood upgrades include a cat back dual-exhaust and a cold air intake that allows the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 to breathe easier.

New Hyundai 2.0 and 2.0-Liter Turbo Diesels with up to 200HP

Hyundai has released details on its newest diesel powerplant, the "R-Engine" that was first previewed in prototype form on the 2008 Geneva Show HED-5 i-MODE concept. The all-aluminum R-Engine benefits from a third generation common rail system with piezo-electric injectors to deliver fuel at 1800-bar while it also features an electronic variable geometry turbocharger and an advanced engine control unit. The new powerplant will be available in two sizes, 2.0 and 2.2-litres with outputs of 184HP / 392Nm and 200HP /436Nm respectively. Hyundai said that the R-Engine will enter production in 2009 and will see its first application in new SUV vehicles and large saloons.

"R proves Hyundai's diesel development capabilities really are world-class. With diesels becoming cleaner and more fuel efficient all the time, there's a growing demand for diesel powerplants worldwide and Hyundai is well positioned to supply the market with the very best diesel technology," said Dr Hyun-Soon Lee, president of Hyundai's Corporate Research and Development Division.

Tesla Roadster Accident Southern FranceSince there aren't many Tesla Roadsters out on the roads, whenever one of them is involved in an accident, its headline news. What makes this Tesla Roadster crash story even more intriguing is the fact that, according to the crash-happy crew over at Wreckedexotics, the man behind the wheel of the all-electric sports car was a sales director for Tesla. The man took an unnamed passenger for a demonstration drive somewhere in southern France on Wednesday, October 29th. It is reported that he was going around 100mph or 160km/h when he tried to make a turn that ended up in what you see here.

Tesla Roadster Accident Southern FranceAside from the speed factor, wet roads and poor visibility are said to have contributed to the accident. As you can from the pictures, the crash was pretty serious with the passenger being ejected from his seat upon impact. Miraculously, both managed to escape this horrid accident alive, with the sales director suffering a broken hand, some minor bruises and a lot of explaining to do while the passenger was recently released from hospital.
