For the 2011 model year, Volvo is introducing a new five-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo diesel that will be available throughout its range while the Swedish automaker also upgraded the six-cylinder petrol engines offered on the S80, V70, XC70 and XC60.The new five-cylinder diesel unit is in principle the same engine as the 2.4-litre diesel, but its displacement has been reduced (with a shorter stroke) to 2.0-liters. It will be offered in three different variants in terms of output.
Over the weekend we showed you the first set of leaked pictures featuring the all-new 2009 Volvo XC60 which is based on the homonymous concept that made its debut at the 2007 Detroit Show. Today, we discovered fourteen new images of the compact luxury SUV floating around the internet that gives us an even better view of Volvo’s answer to the BMW X3 and the forthcoming Mercedes-Benz GLK and Audi Q5 SUVs.
Additionally, we obtained some inside info on the initial engine offerings which will include a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit delivering 285 HP and a 2.4-liter 5cylinder turbo-diesel available in two versions, with 163 and 185 HP. The XC60 will premiere at the Geneva Show with sales expected to start during the second half of the year. –More pics after the jump
Despite Volvo’s intentions to unveil the first pictures and details of the very crucial XC60 on February 20 (see here), an image gallery of all-new Swedish compact SUV/Crossover was leaked into the net today. We don’t have any technical details in our hands, but the images reveal that Volvo remained loyal to the XC60 Concept that was first seen at the 2007 Detroit Motor Show. Set to go on sale during the second half of the year, the new XC60 will compete against the BMW X3 and forthcoming Mercedes GLK and Audi Q5 SUV/Crossovers. –More images after the jump

It has come to our attention -ok, we actually read about it in the invitation we received to see the XC60 live at the Geneva Motor Show from Volvo..., that the Swedish carmaker will release the first official pictures of its all-new XC60 SUV on Wednesday, February 20. As you might have already guessed, Volvo hasn’t released any details on its BMW X3 contender other than it will be based on the XC60 concept (picture) that we first saw at the 2007 Detroit Show -click here. So unless someone decides to spill the beans earlier –something very possible, we’ll just have sit tight and wait.
